Hello Everyone!

I'm back! I've been so busy with the move and getting settled in that I got away from my posting. But I'm back now!

I've got so many projects planned to have done in time for Christmas. I'll be making bags, pillows and quilted ornaments! I'll post pictures as I get them done.

In addition, I'm in the process of making quilting samples to present to the fabric stores so that they'll list me as a quilting service. I'm trying to get that done within the next week.

I've got a sign out in front of my house now so that should be good. Also, check out my new website at www.debbiesquiltingbee.com.

Have a great day! See you tomorrow :)

BuZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Oh my gosh! It's been 5 days since my last post! I've been busy thinking about packing :) I haven't packed anything and we are moving on Saturday. It seems like I can't live without anything so I don't know what there is that I can pack. Then I get overwhelmed and don't do any at all. But that's OK because when I get overwhelmed, I sew! I have finished quilting the blanket and am finishing the binding. I have sewn an apron which is adorable! I have to get someone to model it for me for pictures. It's yellow with small pink polka dots with an accent ruffle and pocket in a tulip print. It has lots and lots of Rick Rack.

I learned a new trick (for me anyway). I used inexpensive non-fusible interfacing as my pattern "paper" for the apron. It worked very well, and the pattern pieces will last a long time. It was obviously more expensive than just pattern/tracing paper, but it's reusable. Worth it as far as I'm concerned.

House Pic

Here's a picture of my new home!

Moving On!

We got the house! I can't wait to move. We won't get to start moving til the 26th, but that's OK. We have a little packing to do anyway.

I have got so much sewing done in the last day. I finished the second diaper bag, quilted the baby quilt, prepared my fabric for the apron and made my binding for the baby quilt. I have to go to the store and get some rick rack and interfacing for the apron and also some paper to trace my pattern on to. So that's my plan for tomorrow.

Anxious!

Today's the day we meet with the landlords. I'm overly excited, but I know how the thought of 8 people moving into your house scares landlords so I'm trying not to hold out too much hope. I'm thinking about spending the day sewing to calm my brain until 3:00. No matter how hard I try to keep myself grounded, I can't. I get way too excited way to easily.

High Hopes

What a beautiful day! My husband and I decided that we are going to find a new house to rent, and we've been looking all day. We actually found several options, which was surprising. I have to find room enough for eight people and a home office as well as room for my quilting machine. The quilting machine takes about an 8x16 space all on its own. We think we found our house but we won't know for sure until Wednesday when we can meet with the landlords. I'm hopeful but trying not to get my hopes too high. This house has 3100 sq ft which includes 4 bedrooms, 2-1/2 bathrooms, 2 living rooms (we'd use one as a bedroom), a family room, 2 kitchens and storage everywhere! It has a wrap around porch and a big deck in the back. And, it's on 1-1/2 acres. It really is a dreamhouse! UHOH....my hopes are trying to get out of hand :) I'll let you know on Wednesday how it goes.

I also spent a few minutes today getting the diaper bag/tote bag that I finished recently pressed nicely. But other than that, sewing was not on my agenda today.

A Terrific Saturday

Today has been a fun day. My quilt class this morning was very interesting with lots of show-n-tell items brought in. The class is all about the 30's so the majority of the items people bring are from the 30's. Today we saw a Sun Bonnet Sue quilt, a Sun Bonnet Sue summer throw, and a vintage suitcase that in 1935 housed all of the belongings of a particular couple on their move to Colorado. It wasn't a very big suitcase, and I can't even fathom living like that. The class is very interesting to me as I love history, and with my sisters help I've learned an appreciation for antiques and vintage items.

After class, my family and I (my husband, my two sons and their fiancee's, my daughter and my extra son(too hard to explain)) went and saw District 9. I'm generally not an alien kinda gal, but it was a very good movie. I have to admit that at first I was thinking it was going to be a very long two hours. Fortunately, that only lasted for a short time before I was completely engaged with the story. I would definitely recommend seeing it.

Now, it's not even 5 o'clock and I have the whole rest of the evening to enjoy!

Rest and Relaxation

It's almost the end of Friday! I'm very happy that the weekend is here. It's been a long week and I'm in need of some rest and relaxation. I'm playing games with the kids tonight. Tomorrow I have a 30's quilt class. Yay! I always get a stack of free fabric...love it! After that, we are going to see the movie District 9. It's probably not a movie that I'd normally go for, but it'll be nice family time. Other than that, I was thinking about quilting my son's baby blanket. Should be a nice weekend!

Isn't she pretty?

I got my camera situation figured out. Woo Hoo! This is the diaper bag/tote bag I just finished modeled by my beautiful daughter. The bag should be on Quilters' Whimsies Etsy site soon.

Senior Pictures

I just got back from a fun shopping trip with my daughter. She is about to start her senior year in high school so it's time to get senior pictures taken. We decided to take our own pictures since my daughter is so good at it. She figures that she can direct me in what she wants. So with the money saved on our DIY project we were able to get her a couple of terrific outfits for the pics. She is going with a 50's style theme. I can't wait to get the pics taken and post them for you to see. Better find that battery charger huh?

One of Those Days

I've been playing around with my blog layout this morning trying to make it perfect. I'm getting closer!

Yesterday, I finished the first of my two bags that I have been working on. I want to get a picture on the web for you to see but my camera battery is dead, and I can't find my battery charger. I just think it's going to be one of those days.

My First Buzz

I have discovered the art of blogging, and I'm becoming addicted. I'm definitely not a writer, but it's fun to put your thoughts on "paper". And, maybe, someone will read them. We'll see....

I'm working on a couple of diaper bags that I wanted to quilt with a continuous line pattern that incorporated circles. Seems basic Huh? I thought for sure it would be a basic pattern that was already created for me when I bought my Handiquilter with Prostitcher. HUGE OVERSIGHT! No such pattern. So now I'm creating my own with my Cabin Logic Quilt Cad software. I've created patterns before but I always have to go back to the tutorial because I forget how to do it. I'll let you know how it goes....
